How can I change the colour of my concrete driveway?

This question was asked by
toby graham

Hello, I have an imprinted concrete driveway in terracotta. Is it possible to change the colour with one of your stain products

Yes it is totally possible to change the colour of your concrete.

You would first need to remove the old sealer using the Stripping solution (link below), then apply the Solid colour stain. If you want to just have it one colour then you can finish here by applying a sealer over the top.

If you are looking to give it the 2 tone look then Imprint should have you can apply a diluted coat of the smartcolour (a darker colour), allow to dry and then seal.

How do I prepare my concrete surface before applying my Newlook Stain?

Preparation doesn’t take much time at all but is vital to ensure a uniformed finish. The most reliable method is pressure washing, however if this is not possible then a floor-scrubbing device with a cleaner is also acceptable.

Use a mild cleaner that contains no acid and a pressure washer with 3000 PSI and a capacity of 4 gallons per minute. The fan tip must be 15°or 25°, never us a 0° tip.  Do not press down on the surface as it can affect the concretes texture, however thoroughly pressure washing is vital to achieve the desired finish.

The aim is to remove all substance’s on the surface that could prevent Newlook from penetrating the surface pores, such as oil, glue, paint and sealer’s. The final step is to thoroughly rinse of any remaining debris and your surface is primed and ready.

What is the Best Sealant to Keep Slate Looking Glossy?

This question was asked by
Lee

I’ve up-cycled the slate bedding from a snooker table, by using it as a work top for a BBQ I built in the garden.
I was really pleased with my idea when I first installed it.
But it’s been a few years now and it’s looking a bit shabby, it’s gone grey and had moss forming on it.
So I have sanded it down and got rid of all the moss, but I want it to be glossy like when it was first installed.
Is there a product that would restore it to its shinny former state.
It looks great in the rain, but when it dries it returns to a dull grey finish.

As you are looking for a glossy finish, I would recommend using the High gloss PU (link below) this will give you a good glossy finish (like when it is wet) and it is a very hard wearing resin so it will last many, many years before it would need re-coating.

What is the best product to create a fake stone finish on a concrete wall?

This question was asked by
Proinsias

Hello. I have put an inch thick cement coat on top of a block wall and have carved out the cement to imitate real stone shapes. I would like to add a realistic mottled stone finish to imitate grey limestone or slate. Can I apply your product by hand-brush? Would your translucent range be suitable?

Newlook do a specific stain for vertical surfaces called Wallstain (link below), if you use 3 or 4 different colours you can achieve a very nice natural looking wall.

I have a piece of coloured imprinted concrete that I would like to clean and seal. What do you recommend I use?

I have a piece of coloured imprinted concrete that I would like to clean and seal. What do you recommend I use? Approx 30 sq. yards.

Hi John

Thank you for your enquiry.

To clean the paving you are best using a power washer, if there are any oil stains you can remove them using our surface degreaser (linked below).

Once clean and dry you can then apply the sealer (again linked below).
